Give me a Fireplace...

Oh, how I love the smell, sound & feeling of a real wood burning fireplace.
A fire in the evening makes me want to curl up on the sofa with a cup of hot cocoa.
Here are a few fireplaces that I thought you might enjoy.

Australian Style

I came across this house in Driftwood Interiors Blog. They call this a timber Edwardian style home in Australia. We don't see to many homes looking like this here in the Northwest. What I liked about this house is that it has traditional exterior, but a modern - hip interior. The mix of the two make it unique and custom. Somebody else must have the same thoughts, its SOLD..

Fall Apples

Fall in Washington State means Apples, tons of them! It can be a little overwhelming when you're in the stores this time of year with so many different varieties of apples. I have my favorites Honey Crisp, Pink Lady and Granny Smith, but I have a new favorite called Sunrise Apple. It's a smaller apple that's crisp, tart and juicy. We found it at fruit stand in Pentiction, British Columbia.

I missed Apple Fest last month in our area,  but next year I am going. They had over 220 varieties of apples to taste.
They say that most Americans try about six types of apples in their lifetime. At the turn of the century, their was over 2,000 varieties of apples.

My Inspiration for our Ranch Renovation

One of my favorite magazines was Western Interiors. I have the issue from 2008 of Michael Keaton's Ranch-House Remodel. I took most of my exterior inspiration from his California Ranch home. I loved the clean look of the white exterior with no rock or brick, just simple lap clapboard.

I loved the look of this spa in Calistoga, California. It has a minimalist feel, not overdone like so many homes in our area.

Just Listed - Our Renovated Ranch Home

I am calling this home design a California Ranch meets Modern Cottage...The house went from 1,200 sq. ft. no garage to now over 2,500+ sq. ft and a 3 car garage.... The kitchen is my favorite part of this project. Still need to install handles on the cabinets, but it looks great!
